FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Hanover, MD (October 14, 2025) Hudson Cook, LLP is proud to announce that Partner Tom Buiteweg has been appointed by the Uniform Law Commission to serve on the Permanent Editorial Board for the Uniform Commercial Code (PEB).
The PEB plays a vital role in maintaining the integrity and uniformity of commercial law across the United States. A joint committee of the American Law Institute (ALI) and the Uniform Law Commission (ULC), the PEB promotes consistency in how the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC) is interpreted and applied among the states. It periodically issues Commentaries and Reports to clarify ambiguities, resolve interpretive disputes, and provide guidance to courts, lawyers, and scholars.
“It’s an honor to join the Permanent Editorial Board to help contribute to its important work” said Buiteweg.
Tom Buiteweg advises financial institutions, sales finance companies, motor vehicle dealers, and manufacturers on motor vehicle and personal property financing, leasing, and regulatory compliance. With more than 30 years of experience, he also counsels FinTech and financial services companies on structuring and maintaining electronic financial services programs. Tom serves as Chair of the Michigan Commission on Uniform State Laws and as Treasurer and Executive Committee Member of the ULC, where his leadership has contributed to key developments in areas such as virtual currency regulation, highly automated vehicles, and revisions to the UCC.
